August Truck Shows

THE EVENTER - It seems that I come across neat trucks everywhere I go. One of my favorite antique power shows is the Antique Tractor and Farm Show held by the South Lake County Agricultural Historical Society the second weekend of July at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, Indiana. In addition to the incredible array of antique tractors on display, the show also invites vintage car clubs to display on the grounds.

When Wendell Kelch arrived at the 2010 International Harvester Collectors Club “Red Power Round Up” in LaPorte, Indiana, he did not expect to see anything out of the ordinary. NEW ISSUE - The May/June 2017 issue of Vintage Truck magazine will be available in subscriber mailboxes and on newsstands soon. NEW ISSUE - The March/April 2017 issue of Vintage Truck magazine will be available in subscriber mailboxes and on newsstands soon. Our cover truck is a 1954 Chevrolet 3100—the final year for the popular Advance-Design model—that I photographed in China Grove, North Carolina. At the time, it was owned by Bobby Smith of Mocksville, North Carolina, who restored it and won many Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) awards with it. The Chevy is now on permanent display at the Keystone Truck & Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights, Virginia.
